OUTDOOR RECREATION IN THE GORGE
The Columbia River Gorge has long been a Mecca for outdoorsmen and extreme sportsmen. It's also the perfect outdoor getaway for young families, active couples and anyone wishing to become a part of the natural beauty that is The Gorge. From a leisurely stroll on a paved pathway along the river to a strenuous waterfall hike, a quiet paddle on a peaceful lake or a a jet ski race on the Columbia, The Gorge offers itself to each of us to be enjoyed as we wish. We've identified many of the recreational opportunities in The Gorge and sorted them into: There is also year-round skiing just up from The Gorge on Mt. Hood. The two largest ski areas are Timberline and Mt. Hood Meadows. (We figure that picnic-ing, napping and romance are activities you can pretty much figure out for yourselves.)
