The Columbia River Gorge, and to an even greater extent, the Columbia Gorge National Scenic area, is best seen by car.  Considered one of the most beautiful drives in the country, and possibly the world, the trip by car from Portland east through The Gorge on I-84 is not to be missed.

 

Four bridges span the Columbia River Gorge - they are distinctly different points of interest in themselves.
